If you’re hoping to be a little more discreet, these clear braces, made from ceramic material, will blend in with your teeth, making them less noticeable. They feature the same comfortable, hygienic metal door as our metal braces.

Esthetic Braces

Manufactured with metal injection molding technology, these brackets are used in conjunction with a sequence of arch wires to gently guide your teeth into place. The brackets are comfortable and low-profile, and include a specialized clip to engage the wire, which makes adjustment appointments quicker and treatment more efficient, so you can spend less time in the chair and get back to doing what you love. The metal doors are also more hygienic than the traditional rubber ties, which are prone to discolouration and lose their effectiveness over time. However, if you are looking for something more colourful, we can still make that happen!

Metal Braces

We believe that every smile is unique, and so are your orthodontic needs! That’s why we offer options to suit your style and treatment goals.

Whether you’re looking for the tried-and-true or something more discreet, we’ve got you covered.

Braces

Say goodbye to traditional braces and embrace a modern, virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth. With clear aligner treatment, you'll wear a series of clear, custom-made aligners that work their magic both day and night, gently guiding your teeth into perfect alignment.

You can easily remove the aligners when it's time to eat, brush, and floss, making it a hassle-free choice for those who want to maintain their regular routines. Plus, its discreet appearance means you can confidently show off your smile even during treatment.

Clear Aligners

While orthodontic treatment may not always be necessary at a young age, an early evaluation allows us to anticipate the best time to begin treatment, ensuring the most effective and comfortable experience for your child.

By assessing your child’s growth and development early on, we can detect potential issues before they become more serious, guiding their dental development in the right direction. Our proactive approach might also include preventive care, addressing concerns like breathing issues that can impact overall health and well-being.

Some signs or habits that may indicate the need for an early orthodontic treatment phase (also called ‘interceptive treatment’) are:

  • early or late loss of baby teeth
  • difficulty in chewing or biting
  • mouth breathing or chronic snoring
  • thumb/finger sucking
  • crowded teeth
  • jaws that shift or make sounds
  • biting the cheek or roof of the mouth
  • a narrow palate
  • a bite that is off center (toward one side)

*Your child's first orthodontic checkup should be no later than age 7.

We believe in the power of early intervention to create a foundation for lifelong healthy and confident smiles.

Early Treatment

By this age, most teens have shed their baby teeth, and their permanent teeth are well on their way. This makes it the perfect time to address issues like misalignment, spacing concerns, and bite problems that can become more complex over time.

Many teens undergo orthodontic treatment during these years, making it a shared experience that can boost self-esteem and pave the way for a brighter, more confident future.

We understand that adolescence is a period of rapid growth and change, and we use this to our advantage. With the body still developing, orthodontic treatments can be more effective and efficient, leading to transformative results in a shorter time frame.

Our approach tries to minimize your time spent in our office - teen treatment can help avoid more extensive treatments in the future.

There are several good reasons why the teenage years are the optimal time for orthodontic treatment (though occasionally even earlier intervention is called for).

Teen Treatment

It’s never too late to seek out orthodontic treatment to transform your smile into something you feel confident about. More adults than ever are turning to orthodontic treatment to enhance their smiles and improve their oral health.

Orthodontic treatment for adults isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s also about maintaining the health and function of your teeth and gums.

Addressing issues like misalignment and bite problems can help prevent more serious concerns down the road, such as tooth wear and decay, gum disease, and jaw pain (TMJ/TMD). It’s never too late to invest in your smile, and our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

Adult Treatment

A well-aligned jaw is crucial not only for a beautiful smile but also for essential functions like chewing, speaking, and even sleeping comfortably.

For patients with severe bite issues, orthodontic treatment is done in conjunction with corrective jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, and addresses irregularities in the jaw that can impact daily activities and enhance the overall balance and harmony of your facial profile.

We work closely with skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeons to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.

However, surgery isn’t always necessary and our experienced orthodontist will thoroughly evaluate your unique situation to determine whether surgery is needed or if non-surgical options could achieve the desired results.

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats & corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaw.

Frequently asked questions

When should I bring my child to the orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists advises that children should have an orthodontic check-up by no later than age 7. This is typically a good age to screen for any growth and development issues of the teeth and jaws. Although treatment at this age is not necessary for most children, a complimentary consultation allows our doctor to track development and treat any potential concerns before they become more serious.

What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist?

Orthodontists in Canada are dental specialists who have first practiced as a general dentist, and then undergone an additional three years of residency training after dental school. They are able to accurately diagnose and treat both dental and skeletal irregularities. This expertise allows us to not only craft stunning smiles but also to promote optimal bite health and function.

What can cause an orthodontic problem?

Orthodontic issues are often passed down through family genetics, including problems like crowding, spacing, extra or absent teeth, underbites, protruded teeth, periodontal issues, and irregular jaw development. Additionally, certain malocclusions can arise from factors such as thumb or finger sucking, facial trauma, the early or delayed loss of baby teeth, habitual mouth breathing, and abnormal tongue posture.

Can adults pursue orthodontic treatment?

Absolutely! Contemporary orthodontic appliances such as ceramic braces and clear aligner therapy are less noticeable and more comfortable, and more adults than ever are seeking out orthodontic treatment.

Why is orthodontic treatment important?

When teeth and/or jaws are misaligned, it can result in uneven wear on tooth surfaces, difficulties in chewing or speaking, and increased strain on the supporting bone and gum tissues. If left unaddressed, these problems may require more extensive dental interventions as a person ages. Additionally, orthodontic treatment can enhance facial aesthetics. Crooked and crowded teeth can also complicate oral hygiene efforts. Therefore, orthodontics involves more than merely straightening teeth; it establishes a foundation for the harmonious balance of teeth, jaws, and facial soft tissues.

How long will my treatment take?

Generally, orthodontic care lasts between 1 to 3 years, with specific timelines established during a complimentary consultation with our doctor. The length of orthodontic treatment is completely individual to each patient. It depends on the severity of the problem we are trying to correct, as well as factors including the patient’s bone density, as well as their cooperation in terms of oral hygiene, appointment attendance, and elastic wear.

What can I eat while I am in orthodontic treatment?

Maintaining a balanced diet is crucial for the overall health of your teeth throughout orthodontic treatment. We recommend steering clear of sticky, hard, or chewy foods, including candies and nuts, as well as sugary beverages like pop and juice. However, you can still eat most of your favourite foods! We will go over this in detail on the day we start your treatment.

How do I keep my teeth and gums healthy while in orthodontic treatment?

Diligent oral hygiene is essential during orthodontic treatment to prevent staining and cavities. The addition of brackets to teeth provides more surfaces for plaque and bacteria to cling to, making it crucial to brush your teeth consistently, particularly in the morning, at night, and after meals. On the day we start your treatment, we spend extra time demonstrating proper oral hygiene technique and answering any questions you may have.

Will my insurance cover all or a portion of my orthodontic treatment fee?

Terms of orthodontic insurance coverage vary between insurance companies and individual policies. We therefore recommend reaching out to your insurance company prior to your first appointment with us, and asking for your orthodontic benefit amount, any age restrictions, and the amount that can be paid upfront. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns. We would be happy to help!

How much does orthodontic treatment cost?

Just as each person is unique, so too are their orthodontic needs. Consequently, our fees vary based on the complexity of your treatment, the necessary appliances, and the estimated duration of care. During the creation of your orthodontic treatment plan, we will go over the financial details and develop a plan that best suits your needs.

Do you offer payment plans?

Orthodontic treatment is a big investment that will benefit you for a lifetime. Financial concerns should not prevent you from achieving a healthy and beautiful smile, so we offer a variety of flexible payment options including interest-free payment plans.

How does it work?

There is no referral required to book an appointment. We offer free consultations for patients under 20 years old. There are no hidden fees associated with treatment (the price we give covers your treatment from start to finish).
